Sweet Chicken Recipe

Here is a basic and savory sweet chicken recipe with hints of savory and tangy flavors that are great for a weeknight dinner.

Sweet Chicken Recipe

Ingredients:

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
1 tbsp olive oil or sesame oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated, optional
Salt and pepper, to taste
Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions:

Make the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, vinegar, oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger, if using. This is going to be used both as a marinade and glaze.

Marinate the Chicken: Place chicken breasts in either a zip-lock bag or a shallow dish. Pour half of the marinade over the chicken; reserve the remainder. Allow chicken to marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator-up to 2 hours for added flavor.

Cook the Chicken:

Heat a large skillet over medium heat.

Remove chicken from marinade-discarding used marinade. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
Sear the chicken in the skillet, 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Glaze the Chicken: Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens to a glaze.

Serve: Spoon thickened glaze over chicken. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.

Enjoy! Serve with hot rice, steamed vegetables, or fresh salad.
